The link

I haven't posted a quiz for a long time. So here's another little puzzle for you to solve... I know it's a very long shot, and I don't expect anyone to find the answer. But just give it a try... who knows!

The question is: What's the link between these three photos?

My favourite spot in the Loire Valley.

The man without whom we wouldn't be drinking Vouvray wines nowadays,
nor any of the other Loire Valley wines ...

The village church of a small town near
my home town in Belgium.

Obviously, the key to the quiz is the second picture.

Chm, You're right! Keep searching ... Just find out who the man in the painting is ... and you'll know it all!

Martine,

Martine,
I'm trying very hard not to give away the answer. You know that I know who it is. Let's say it is the same person in the three photos. I didn't know he was so famous in Belgium.

Now I have the same information as in my previous comment, but this time in English

This is what I found about this little church:

"This Gothic church has Romanesque roots and was enlarged in the 16C, 17C and 19C. It houses an interesting painting by A. Van Dyck who is said to have stayed here."

In that village there is even a Van Dijcklaan!

From the Post Office stamps issued in 1910 and 1926 it seems that the Van Dyck picture hanging in that small church is the same as the one in the second picture.

Where is the original? In Belgium or in France?

Chm, The original is actually hanging in the church in Belgium! And therefore in my second photo, which I took only recently.

Martine,
Since I knew right away the answer because of Candes and the painting, I assumed the latter was in some church in Tours.

So there is only one painting and it is in Z... Very interesting.

Very good pictures BTW. Your small camera, and the photographer, do marvels!

The painting gave it away to me too, but I came to the same conclusions as chm about the locations of the churches.

To make it simple: one is one and two is in three! Et mon tout est: ??? LOL

I really should have read this when I wasn't drinking. Honestly, you should host a game show.

Bonjour Cousin

Thank you all for playing the game. The answer ... which most of you already know, is in today's post.
