A cob web in my mother's garden. Notice the tiny snow flakes clinging to the frozen threads. Winter, ice and snow can be beautiful ...
So with restaurant lunch cancelled, I have to improvise, as I don't feel like going out for some last minute shopping. Luckily I still have some wild boar meat in the freezer from last autumn's mini-trip to Habay-la-Neuve and northern France. I think I'll do a nice stew with caramelized apples and mashed potatoes. How does that sound to you?
Speaking of France, yesterday I booked six nights in June at our usual B and B in Vouvray. More about that later. Enjoy what is left of your weekend!

Wild boar stew sounds delicious and just the thing for these very cold days. I don't have wild boar but I'm going to do something similar with some lamb. It's not quite so cold here on the south coast of England and at the moment we only have a dusting of snow. Keep warm and enjoy your stew!

What a lovely photo. We've got 10cm of snow and -4C right now.
Heerlijk! Can I come for lunch? ;-)
So Vouvray this summer--it would be lovely to meet you 'for real'.
I want to come, too! No snow here on the Irish coast at Southport -- but ice covers all the steps from which we exit our house :-(
Oh, well ... bon appetit and keep warm!
Glad to hear your Loire Valley holiday is on the schedule.
And maybe you might meet us as well. Hope so.
Martine, you are making Vouvray the place to be this June. These next few months you'll have so much fun planning, and I'm sure you'll discover all kinds of new things to see and do in the area. We'll have fun reading about it.
Martine
Better be safe than sorry- slipping on ice and falling is not a pleasant "accident" .
Good to hear that you will be back in Touraine.
Veronica, The stew was delicious. How was your lamb?
N&A, It would be lovely to meet you to. I'll get in touch as soon as I have all the details ...
Kathie, Ice can be very dangerous. Be careful on those slippery steps!
Ken, Can't wait to get there. Looking forward to seeing you again!
L&S, I would love that!
Carolyn, It's a real challenge because I'll be travelling with friends who've never been to the Loire Valley and who don't speak French. So I will not only be their guide but also their interpreter :)
The Beaver, I'm so happy to go back there after missing out on my 2011 visit
Martine, that is not a challenge for you! You could do this with one hand tied behind your back. (In case that's one of those inscrutable American expressions, it means someone can do something easily.) You are planning already, I'm sure.
