A weekend puzzle

Yesterday I went shopping at 'Stonemanor', the all-British store. They carry the most delicious organic yoghurt from 'Rachel's' and both my mother and I are hooked on it. My favourites are the plain version and the vanilla flavoured yoghurt, while my mother loves the one with bite-size pieces of rhubarb.

Being on my own, I had ample time to browse around and, as usual, bought more than I actually needed ... like this bright green kitchen utensil. Any idea what it is. It's an American 'invention' (Seattle) and ... Made in China (where else?).

Good luck and enjoy your weekend!

I have the same, for avocado slices. It doesn't work well though.

Nadege, Yes it is an avocado slicer. Sorry to hear that it isn't very efficient ... I have yet to find out myself :)! Judging by the number of comments it is either a very common or completely unknown object. lol!

Before I read Nadege's comment, I would have said something for slicing some kind of vegetable, maybe a butternut squash due to its shape - although it would have to be made of something more robust than green plastic for that !!

It works quite well on melon wedges.

Jean, Lol ... this plastic gadget wouldn't stand a chance if it were to 'meet' a butternut squash.

Tim, Thanks for the tip! So it wasn't a useless acquisition after all ;)!

Martine, just like you I buy all sorts of gadgets...particularly when I visit food shows. Most of them never work as well for me as they do during the demonstrations which have enticed me to buy them!

Louise, I'm always tempted to buy these gadgets on shopping tv. They look so convincing. But then I find the procedure too complicated ... It has saved me a lot of money and useless gadgets cluttering my kitchen cabinets. :))

Darn Martine, maybe I should have waited to write what it was! I will do that next time you have another puzzle. Good idea to try it on melon as Tim wrote.

And there's me thinking it's some sort of reinvention of a whisk, or something to help you toss or twirl your spaghetti more stylishly....

Nadege, Don't worry :)... Somebody had to write the first comment, although I thought that it would take a bit longer before someone came up with the right answer. I guess it was just too obvious or too easy.

Autolycus, I like the idea of using it as a spaghetti 'eating aid' (lol). Maybe I should give it a try since it's useless as an avocado slicer. Btw, I haven't tried it yet because I'm still waiting for my avocado to ripen.
