Dino

Sorry for my long absence, but things at the office are quite hectic ... with a new re-organisation in view, hardly one year after the previous one. We don't know what to expect, but in the meantime we are asked to maintain 'business as usual'. There is one positive point though: as from November 12th we are switching to teleworking: 1 day per week for those who are 80% (like me) and up to 2 days per week for those who are working full time! This means spending less time in traffic jams and an extra hour of sleep one day per week.

I still owe you an answer to last week's enigma. Susan and Antoinette came very close indeed. The rapier in the photo belonged to a left-handed swordsman. I have many more photos and stories to share about the Cinq-Mars castle, but don't feel up to it right now ... with All Saints' Day coming up next week; which means ordering flowers for the cemetery, getting them there, cleaning up the family tombs... But I promise you'll get to see and read them soon.

I'm still catering for my mother, whose mobility remains a problem. She has her 'good' days (like today), but also her bad one's, after sleepless nights due to the pain she is suffering. I do my best, taking care of her shopping and administrative chores, cooking lunch on Saturday and Sunday and ... spoiling her with her favourite cakes (not home-made but utterly delicious).

Next week my friends B. and J.L. will be coming over for lunch. I'm planning some nibbles, a roasted goat's cheese with honey and a salad, followed by a spicy home-made chili con carne. During their recent visit to the Loire Valley they bought some Loire valley wine for me at the 'co-operative' at Amboise. They'll be bringing it and I intend to open a bottle or two to celebrate the occasion.

Finally, here's another 'insolite' photo taken on that Wednesday in June ... after our visit to the Cinq-Mars castle. It's a 'dino' ... (mind you, not Dean Martin, although his 'Chapel in the moonlight' would have made great background music in this particular location). Any idea where we were?

I'm so glad to hear it was only work that kept you away from your blog. I began to wonder.

It's good news that you'll have a work day at home.

Hi Martine,
I think the business that isn't just work related is often the hardest to see past and get through. It will be easier when you have a day working from home. Even though work is work it will free up some time at the beginning and end of each day to make a start on 'life chores'.
I'm sorry to hear that your Mum is suffering but you are lucky to have each other.
Your lunch menu sounds delicious. We are hoping your friends will be able to join us for a curry soon.
Wish you were here... X

Great to have you back. Seems like things are very hectic for you. It's difficult to work full time and care for a parent. Be sure to take care of your own health. Often times a care giver's health will start to go down, so be mindful of that.

Martine,I'm sure you're extremely happy about teleworking from home...maybe in the future you'll be able to do so for two days a week.
Caring for your Mum and working can take a toll on you so keep guzzling your vitamins.

Carolyn, Thank you for your concern :) Looking forward to the teleworking ... one more week to go i the 'old' system.

Nadege, When she takes her medication, she feels better, but she's afraid it'll affect her brains.

Gaynor, Thanks. From what I learnt from other blogs, B and J.L. enjoyed your curry night. Looking forward to learning more about it soon.

Bob, I know what you mean and I'm trying to take as much rest as possible when the occasion presents itself.

Virginia, I'm so into vitamins!!! The teleworking will make a huge difference! Can't wait!

P.S. The Dino seemed to be too much of a challenge :) More about that later ...
