Next year the world will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of WWI. I can't wait to commemorate the 100th anniversary of it's end on November 11th, 2018!
P.S. As Flanders and northern France are known as the battlefields of the Great War, Belgium is now in the Top 10 of the list of 2014 'holiday' destinations ... An honour, not for our generation, but for those who gave their lives in WWI, whatever their origin.

Today is a US holiday, Veteran's Day. I'm sure many countries honor their veterans, not only for their service, but also for the freedom we have.
That is so true Martine. I didn't realize next year will the 100th anniversary of this truly horrific war.
Bob, I'm sure it means a lot to you, with your father having served in the army and you spending part of your youth on military bases in France.
Nadege, Belgian and French television are currently showing a lot of documentaries showing the horrors of that terrible war. Apparently young people are showing increasing interest again, unlike the seventies and eighties when WWI was about to become the forgotten war.
