In Belgium receiving lilies-of-the-valley from a friend or loved-one on May 1st means that the giver is wishing you luck for the rest of the year.
I was given these yesterday by my dear and long-time friend. Okay, he was a day late, but in his defense I must add that he picked them himself in his garden ... adding an extra garden flower for some colour. They are lovely, aren't they? And their fragrance is sublime.

Il'll be back with more Leuven stories presently. But I just wanted to show you this photo first.

I miss that tradition here. Between lilacs, lily of the valley… it would be hard to make up my mind on which scent is my favorite.
Beautiful!
Love lillies of the valley :-) We had a proper carpet of them in our garden in Cadier en Keer and the scent was beautiful.
Nadege, Like you, I find it hard to choose. Yet, I think they can be a bit overwhelming when kept inside; especially in large quantities.
Carolyn, Thank you! :)
N&A, They are so delicate and pristine, aren't they?
