Thunderstorms

Late yesterday afternoon I watched this storm cloud moving in from the West. Half an hour later I heard some thunder floating in from the East.

The cloud had moved over our village to explode some 30 km East of us... Being on the fringe of it, we got some steady rain for about 10 minutes. Nothing spectacular but enough to leave large puddles in the street. During the night two more rain fronts with some distant thunder and short downpours travelled from West to East. By the time I left for the office this morning at 6.20 a.m. the asphalt in the road had dried up nicely and there was no visible damage or flooding.

Some people were not so lucky, with rivers and brooks overflowing. More thunderstorms are on their way though. The whole country, except the Belgian coast, is under orange alert till tomorrow 6 a.m.

P.S. The shape of cloud in the photo above was quite amazing. To me it looked like a laughing child with a cute turned-up nose and a cheeky smile... Do you see it too?

I see it!! For once the UK seems to have avoided the storms. We've been in the UK for the past six weeks preparing for Rhiannon's wedding, so have missed the storms and floods in France.

I hope you don't get the floods that the people of northern France have experienced. We were ok in our little spot but many even close by were not so lucky.
